REVISING THE TARIFF. (Received 23, 9.20 a.m.) Melbourne, November 23. /Mr. Tudor promised a Chambers of Manufacturers’ deputation to place before the Cabinet the request for a revision of the tariff with a view to rectifying anomalies. Mr. Tudor declared that, he wanted the workers to get thoir share. If he found that the wages cost of the article was less than the duty there would be no reduction of duties. CAPTAIN’S TICKET SUSPENDED. (Received 23, 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, November 23. The certificate of Can'ain Balfour, master of the steamer Derwent, has been suspended for four months, as a result of the collision with the Kaikai, on October 2oth. I) ISESTABLISHMENT. (Received 23, 9.30 a.m.) London, November 22. At a mooting of the Representative Church Council the Bishop of Oxford voted for disestablishment.
FISK AS FOOD. (Received ‘2d, 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, November 23. Giliving evidence at the Food Commission Dr Ashburton Thompson, regarded fish as inferior to lean meat as n tissue builder. It did not specially nourish tl e brain or the* nervous system hut was a suitable substitute for meat.
