(Per Press Association) Wellington, November 20. Following is tne High Commissioner’s cable dated London, 18th November (quotations unless otherwise specified are for average market prices on spot):— . . Mutton. —The market is firm, although trade is very disappointing, there being only a very hand-to-mouth demand for stocks on hand. Fine Canterbury 4 ; ’,d, North Island 4d.

Lamb.—There is a better tone in the market this week. The market is steadier, and holders are firm. Canterbury s',d, other than Canterbury 4:] d. Beef.—The market is steadier. Stocks of New Zealand on hand are light. New Zealand hinds dpi, fores 2 id. Pork.— There is a large supply, which is selling cheap. New Zealand is in small supply. Average price lid. Butter.—The market is firm, and there is active demand at lull prices. The shipment of butter ox s.s. Tainui arrived in good condition. New Zealand butter is giving satisfaction to buyers. New Zealand 131 s, Australian 1275, Danish 120 s, Siberian 1235, Argentine 1265. Cheese.—The market is linn, and there is good demand for cheese. New Zealand 68s, Canadian 70s, Cheddar' (English) 88s.. The sliipmont of cheese ex s.s. Tainui arrived in good condition. Hemp.—Tiic market is firmer, although trade is quiet. Spot: New Zealand good fair, per ton, £2O; fair grade £l9, fa’ir current Manila £2O. (forward shipment: New Zealand, good fair £2O ss, fair grade £l9 5s 6d, fair current Manila £2O 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 18,000 bales. Wool.—The market is firm, with a hardening tendency,
