A FEARFUL TRAGEDY.
WOMAN AND FIVE CHILDREN . MURDERED. (Received 20, 9.20 a.m.) Brisbane, November 20. A fearful tragedy took dice ■ evr Alligator Creek, between Ma- J.av and Blane Creek, some time on Fie Fy. The white wife of a Chinese farmer named Clung, and her f’.rc’ 1 y < f five children, wore murdered in most brutall fashion. Ching vent to Blane Creek on business, and on i cturuing he feund the bodies of Ills v. ?fe, ' is danghtc- N :ud (17), his boy (5), and a baby girl, together in the sittingroom. The mother was snot in the neck, and mutilated. Maud was also shot in the neck. The others’ heads were smashed in. A seato’i revealed the bodies of tbo other children—Teddy (10) and Dolly (8) —three-quarters of a mile from the house.
It is supposed they were seen on return from scene l by the murderer, and enticed away and shot. Their schoolbags were found on the kitchen table.
The bodies in the house had been huddled together, and covered with a table cloth, and the table placed on top. Ching states that he left a Cingalese, evidently a servant, at home when he went to the township. On returning he found the house locked, and he-thought the family were visiting neighbours. He bad tea with the Cingalese in the kitchen, which is separated from the house. He wort to neighbours, and failing to iind the, family, became alarmed. He returns! and''searched the house with the Cingalese, and made the terrible discmery. When he tried to communicate with town he found the teleoluno wires cut, probably by the mur lo;er. The police expect to make an arrest.
