TORRENTIAL RAINS DESTROY TRENCHES. NEW POSTS ESTABLISHED. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) Paris, November 18. Tripoli advices state that torrential rains destroyed the Italian trenches at Cumoliana Well, forcing the establishment of new posts near Tripoli. TURKS ENDEAVOUR TO DIVERT WATERS. STOPPED BY ITALIAN SAPPERS. Rome, November 18. The Turks endeavoured to divert the swollen creeks at Midjenin into the Italian trenches, but the Italian sappers cleverly frustrated the attempt.
REFUGEES TURNED BACK. TURKISH CONSUL CANNOT PAY THEIR PASSAGES. (Received 20, 8.45 a.m.) Vienna, November 19. Hundreds of refugees from T ripoli, transported bv the Italians, were not allowed to land at Trieste as the Turkish Consul is without funds to defray the expenses of the journey to Turkey. ATROCITIES IN THE OASIS. CONFIRMED BY A GERMAN JOURNALIST. (Received 20, 8.45 a.m.) Berlin, November 19. Herr Gottberg, the “Lokal An/fioger” corrcppndeut at Tripoli, confirms Mr McCullagh’s statements. He minutely describes the panic, want of discipline and massacres after the 23rd. Sometimes when a murder was perpetrated the officers hastened to participate.
