HEAVY HAILSTORM. (Per Press Association.) Timaru, November 12. Very heavy hail fell in a strip of country from Waimata to Rangicata, passing Timaru eight to twelve miles inland. Some of the stones were large, and the hail lay several indues thick, whitening the country like snow. There was much damage to the vegetation along the wiiolo length of the strip. GOVERNOR TO VISIT NELSON. Nelson, November 13. The Governor. and suite will visit Nelson on November 20th, coming via Blenheim. His Excellency specially desires to inspect the Motuoka fruit farms. OLD NELSON SETTLER’S DEATH. Nelson, November 13. Mr Win. Wastney, formerly chairman of ths Waimca County Council, died last night, aged SO. He was much esteemed. Ho is- a brother-in-law of Mr McMahon, Government candidate for Nelson. He had numerous relations in the district.
