The C.J.C. Metropolitan meeting is being continued to-day in lino weather. The course is in good order, and there is a large attendance for Oaks’ Day. Results: — Hurdles.—Tyrannic 1, Passive 2, Goldpin 3. Scratched: Hawick. Tyrannic led throughout, easily stalling off Passive’s challenges. Won by a good length. Time, Imm 4-ssec. Spring Nursery.—Winning Way 1, Anna Carloona 2, Gnome 3. Scratched: Champagne. Anna Carloona led to the distance, but Winning Way wore her down, winning by half a length. r | imp iO sor* Avon Welter.—lreland 1, Hunk 2, Birkline 3. All started. Dearest led into the straight. A good finish. Won by a- length. Time, luiiu 27 3-5 sec. CANTERBURY SHOW. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, November 8. The Canterbury A. and P. Association’s metropolitan show opened at Addington to-day, in beautiful weather. The general entries total 2017, compared with 2154. last year; but this year’s figures do not include carriages, implements, machinery, New Zealand manufactures, in sjjecial tents. The motor-car display is a feature of the show.
