ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association.! Wellington, November 7. The body of a man was found in the harbour and identified us Duncan McColl, formerly assistant librarian at Parliament puddings. McColl iiad oeen working on a 1 (t. in at Warcotara and came acre for tne races. He was last seen on 25th October. Late yesterday afternoon John McLccs, aged 49, a single man, was killed while working in the busn, loghaulmg for Bennett- and Anderson's mill. He was riding on tiie rear truck. Tno ropo broke, and the trucks left the rails. A log rolled over, pinning McLees to the ground and killing him instantaneously. Ho was trying to apply the brake, but failed. His mates called out a warning to him to get clear, but lie persevered in his attempt to stop the Taihupe, November 7.
At the inquest yesterday on Everett, a verdict of 'suffocation ensuing on excessive drinking of brandy' was returned.
