Mr. Justice Neville has decided that the Birkbcck Bank directors exceeded their borrowing powers for banking, and that as the depositors had notice of this illegality, they would come last in the distribution of assets. FIRE. AN ENGLISH HOME DESTROYED. (Received 7 X 9.45 a.m.) London, November 6. Haggerston Castle, Northumberland, belonging to Mr. Christopher Leyland, and containing a number of valuable pictures, has been burnt. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO.
