A rumour published yesterday morning that the tramway employees intended to go out on strike to-day and hold up the carnival traffic, was ridiculed by the union officials when brought under their notice.

At a public meeting held in the Town Hall last night, a resolution was unanimously carried, on the motion of Air. Orlando Pragnell, solicitor, protesting against misrepresentations made by the' “Trade” of the moral and material condition of A 1 aster ton under no-license.
