OBITUARY.

MR AY. F. MASSEY’S FATHER

(Por Press Association.) Auckland, November 6. Mr. John Massey, senior, father of the leader of the Opposition, died yesterday. MR AV. DINGLE. Mr AA r . Dingle passed away at his residence, Hawera, yesterday morning, after a long—but fortunately not very painful—illness, at the age of G 3 years. The late Mr Dingle was the son of one of Taranaki’s first settlers, Mr James Dingle, and had to make his >vay in life like , all other young men in the province. South Taranaki was the chief scene of operations, where he and his brother Richard (of Stratford) carried out largo road contract works. Mr AA’illie Dingle retired from active life some ten years ago, but for a long time had known of the nature ol the complaint which ended in Ills death yesterday. He was an enthusiastic bowler, and as such will be greatly missed on the Hawera green. The funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon. MRS L. IBBOTSON.

Only the other day we recorded the death of Mr AVilHam Moyle; now the death has occurred (on 4th November) of one of his sisters, Mrs Leadriian Ibbotson', at the ago of 51 years. Taranaki’s second generation is being gathered in veVy fast—four within a week.
