AUCKLAND SESSIONS

In the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Edwards sentenced Jess O’Brien, a young man, for theft from a dwelling, to one year’s hard labour, and two years’ reformatory treatment. Herman Langsllarf, for issuing valueless cheques, with many previous convictions in New Zealand and Australia, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, and five years’ reformative treatment; C. Ryan, theft from a dwelling, with a long list of previous convictions, two years’ imprisonment and eight years’ reformative treatment. The Judge described the latter (a coloured man) as a hopeless ease and a curse to the community.
