Wellington, October 31. In a claim for compensation brought by T. Coverdalo against the City Council for £2520 on account of the compulsory acquisition of a piece of land for widening purposes, the Chief Justice pointed out that the value placed on the land by claimant worked oiit at the rate of £106,000 per acre. In iris opinion people whoso property was increased in value ,by street widening should bear a portion of the costs. The case is proceeding.
