Marion, October 29. F. Schwass, a farmer, residing in the Turakina Valley, was drowned in the Turakina river on Saturday while driving aerws in a drayj which capsized. His companion drifted- to the overhanging willows and was rescued. The horse, was drowned. So far Schwarts’s bady has not been recovered. ■ '
Auckland, October 30
At the City Council yards this morning a quantity .of tar boiled over and a man named John Mulverhill was smothered with blazing tar. The blaze was quickly extinguished, but Mulverhill’s injuries were serious, necessitating his removal to the hospital. Christchurch, October 30. George Saunders, a widower, aged 60, was killed at Hornby on Saturday by a fall from the roof of a shed which ho was repairing, his neck being broken.
