NEW ZEALAND COMPETITIONS.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 26. At the New Zealand Competitions the winners on the first day were,: — Dramatic recital—Men; S. H. Osborne (Dunedin), E. Y. Slyfield (Dunedin), J. C. Bell (Hutt). Humorous recital—Ladies: - Lillian Prichard (Melbourne), Helen Gardner (Dunedin), Mrs Griffiths (Dunedin). Soprano solo test—Rita Lyons (Auckland), Misses Barker and Grant (Christchurch) equal. . ■ y Humorous song, lady or gentleman: (Wellington;), Helen Gardner (Dunedin), Florence Pacey (DunPiano solo, under ten: \ iolet Hunory, May Evatt, Mollie Shannon (all of Wellington). _ , Mandoline solo: Miss Iwose (Christchurch), Mr Sparks (Christchurch). From an original poem out of forty competitors the first prize fell to a little girl of twelve, Joyce Eggers (Wellington), Mr W. F. Chambers (Wellington) second, Mr S. G. August (Invercargill) third. There wore large audiences in the afternoon and evening, though the weather was most unfavourable.
