CHAMPION BUTTER-FAT AND MILK COMPETITION. Entries for the Show are now reaching the secretary, and possibly no class will bo better filled than the champion milk and butter-fat competition. Entries for this competition will close bn November Ist at 5 p.m. The first prizh is £lO 10s, and Messrs G. and E. Jacksons’ silver cup,, valued at £8 Bs. The cup to be won outright by two successive wins. The second prizes is Mr J. McCluggage’s special of £5 5s r the third prize Mr F. N. Fussell’s special of £2 2s, and the fourth Messrs Kempthorne Prosser’s special, value £1 Is. Prizes will be awarded to first four cows in oraer of merit, points to be computed at one-tenth for every lib of milk and twenty-five points for every 11b of buttr-fat produced. The cows are to bo in possession ofjvthe Association for nine days, the test to be made On tho last "Tour days. Every possible care will be taken of the cows, and tho officials in charge of the test will be tllbrotighly ‘ competent. Mr W. G. Malone has again very kindly placed his paddocks on the Opunake road at the disposal of the Association for the carrying out of the test. Apart from the prizes to be won, the added value placed on a cow winning the test will be very considerable. Twenty-three entries were received for the competition’last year, and a larger entry is expected this year. There is an early indication that all the cattle classes will be well filled, particularly the pedigree classes in Holsteins, Jerseys, Shorthorns,- and Ayrshires.
