(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 19.’ It is stated that ballot papers have been circulated amongst members of the Merchant Service Guilds asking for definite pronouncement from individual members as to whether the Guild will cancel its registration under the Arbitration Act or not.

NO CHANCE OF A SETTLEMENT.

Christchurch, October. ID. Mr Watson, of the Merchant Service Guild, who passed through Chlistchurch to-night on Lis way from Dunedin to Christchurch, told a reportei he did not think there war much chance of a settlement being effected in the coastal shipping trouble.
