Tho Workers’ .Compensation Amendment Bill . lias boon considerably altered by the Labour Bills Committee. . n ■ . Tlie following clause is _ substituted ■fur paragraph (b) of section 4 of the principal Act:—“lf trie worker does not leave any total dependants, but leaves any partial dependants, the compensation shall be such sum as is reasonable and proportionate to the injury to those dependants, but not exceeding in any cr.se the amount payable under trie foregoing provisions.”

The following new clauses are added :—“Trio wife of a deceased worker and his children under trie ago of sixteen . years■ (whether . legitimate or illegitimate,) shall lie conclusively preuaiod' to have been dependent on trie earnings of that'w'orlcor at the time of trio accident;-but their dependency shall lie deemed to be partial unless it is proved in fact to be total.” Section 5 subsection 6 of the principal Act, which provides that the w eekly payments when a worker is totally incapacitated shall lie halt the average weekly wage, is amended by tiie insertion of a small proviso that the total amount to bo paid per week shall not be more than £2 ids.

Clauses arc also inserted providing that actions for compensation outside of New Zealand cannot be repeated in the Dominion and vice versa. ■
