WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION MINE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, October' IS. The Waihi Grand Junction mine crushed 9282 tons for £1,609. SLY GROG SELLER FINED. Waihi, October 18. R. D. Carden, a local chemist, has been fined £25 and costs for keeping liquor for sale. The police stated ho had received 33S bottles in three months, and medical prescriptions only accounted for 76. The Magistrate said the defendant had abused the section of the Act governing dispensing of liquor by chemists. _ The case was the first of the kind in the Dominion. SOLICITOR STRUCK 'OFF. Wellington, October 18. The Appeal Court, on the; application ■of the New Plymouth Law Society, made an absolute rule to strike Walter Wilkes off the solicitors’ roll, with 15 guineas costs. SNOW, HAIL, SLEET AND RAIN. Dunedin, October 18. The weather in Central Otago has been very boisterous for the last week, snow, hail, sleet, and rain having been experienced. Snow was falling heavily at Nasoby late this afternoon, with the prospects of continuing all night. REGATTA ON LAKE WAIHOLA. Dunedin, October 18. The Otago Rowing Association has decided to hold a championship regatta on Lake Waihola on the first Wednesday in February. GOOD RAINS IN FEILDING. Fcilding, October 19. There are good soaking rains in the district, which will do immense benefit.
