BUTTER FOR CANADA.

BRIGHT PROSPECTS

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, October 1G

The Canadian Trade Commissioner (A!r \V. A. Beddoe) has received a letter from the Deputy-Minister of Commerce at Ottawa, saying a box of New Zealand butter sene to Canada recently arrived in splendid condition in twenty-seven days at Ottawa, despite tbo' fact that the weather was extremely hot. It was put in the cold storage, and the manager there became so struck with its fine appearance and quality that he requester! the Minjster to" inquire from the Auckland Commissioner the cost of a trial shipment, with a view to purchasing more largely in the future. The Minister’s letter concluded with tbo words: “It is the best butter 1 have ever tasted.” “'lbis communication,” says Mr Beddoe, “means that tbo possibility is opened up for sending New Zealand butter as far east as Ottawa, which is .‘IOOO miles from Vancouver. I have always considered tbo market was on the west coast as far east as Winnipeg, but if butter can find its way as far east as Ottawa it makes it possible to supply all tbo other large centres in Ontario, such as Toronto (population bob,000) _ and Hamilton (population 120,000).” Arrangements are being made for a trial shipment.
