(Per Press Association. j
Wellington, October 15. Up to the present little of nothing lias or on done in New Zealand with regard to the manufacture of fancy cheeses, which in some other dairying industries is a source of a large amount of rev mue.
Tlie Minister of Agriculture now decided to make a departui that direction, and to that end
appointed as instructress Miss Davis, who recently arrived from England with high credentials. As to her ability in that line it is not anticipated that anything can lie done at present by way of creating an export trade for soft or fancy cheeses, but it is considered that'’there is a larger scope for tlie industry, more particularly in the chief centres. Where the nrodnotion of soft and fancy cheeses has boon fostered, it lias been found +o bp ; t highly payable business, and it is anticipated that tin’s, will he a prominent feature in the development policy already announced by the Minister for Agriculture. Already mor-' than one d-Tv company has intimated that it will be glad to avail itself of Miss Davis’ services as instructress, and it is considered likely that, the departure will result in a largo increase of the dairying industry.
