ENGLISH INSURANCE BILL.
FRIENDLY SOCIETIES’ HOSTILITY (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) (Received 14, 8.5 a.m.) London, October 13. The National Conference of Friendly' Societies at Edinburgh, representing a membership of four millions, rejected a proposal to urge the Government to postpone the Insurance Bill for a year, ft was resolved that while accepting the main provisions, the conference demand alterations in the direction of conferring self-government ■on approved -societies by majority representation on ,the healtli committees, and allowing earners of over ;Cl6O to become voluntary subscribers without Government subsidy. Failing those concessions it recommends all societies to strenuously oppose ■ the Bill. • ' :
