TRAMWAYS BILL.

(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, October 14. Mr. Myers, chairman of the Tramway Committee, says lie regards with apprehension Mr. Davey’s new proposal that a passage-way from end to end in every car must be provided. If interpreted literally this would mean the reconstruction of the entire tramways and rolling stock, at a cost of many • thousands of pounds ; also the decreased carrying capacity. Such alterations, he concludes, are uncalled for on the grounds of safety, since our cars are found safe to work. He will therefore propose to the Dunedin Tramway Committee to vigorously oppose the proposal.
