STRATFORD HOSPITAL.
' ; WHAT A VISITOR SAYS. A lady visitor from Manchester, England, accompanied by a press representative, visited the Stratford hospital recently, and was charmed with the spacious grounds which were kept so neat, and which she considered reflected much credit on those in charge. After chatting to one or two patients who were enjoying the sun on the verandah, wo came across a small boy, and gleaned ho was to leave next week. We asked him if he was not glad to get away among his boy friends again. Ho promptly replied, “No; I'like here best. I would like to stay ahvavs if the matron would only let me.”' Which speaks volumes. A wee mite was being hushed to sleep by a gentle nurse, who seemed to have no thought apart from easing the mite’s suffering. We then passed into the corridor, where we were shown all over the interior of the hospital, which is a credit to Taranaki. Wo then realised what “a place for everything and overying in its place” meant. The whole of the institution was scrupulously clean from end to end. My friends and I have visited nearly every hospital, asylum, and public institution in Now Zealand, and wo congratulate tho Stratford Hospital Board on having one of the finest up-to-date institutions in the Dominion, and above all Inn ing one of the most courteous staffs we have met in our travels. From all, sides we heard only praise of the doctor, matron, and nurses, which must satisfy one that the hospital is conducted with firm discipline, but also with love and kindness.
