TAUPO RAILWAY.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 12. The Special Committee of the House to-day further considered the i'aiipo Totara Timber Company’s petition to extend its railway and to acquire certain areas of native lands. Mr. W. C. Kensington, Under Secretary tor Lands, gave evidence as to the area of Crown land which might be influenced by their opposed extension, and as to the general character of the country. The immediate area of Crown land to benefit would bo i6‘i,St;:) acres, inside a radius of 30 miles. Outside this 181,411 acres would benefit in a secondary way.
