London, -October 11. At the wool sales the following was disposed ofFor the Home market, 53.000 bales; the Continent, 40,000; the United States, 2500; amount held, 27.000 bales.
Continental buyers were keen on fine merinos. Yorkshire buyers operated largely in slipes and” greasy crossbreds.
Compared with July closing rates, the prices for fine merinos were unchanged, whilst, average sorts generally declined 5 per cent. For New Zealand scourods there was a strong request, the prices being unchanged. Medium scoured declined o per cent, and inferior 10, per cent. Greasy crossbreds were slightly firmer. Fine and medium showed 'a .decline of from o to 71 per cent.
Lamason and Melville’s Weekly Report.
On Saturday last we had an exceptionally heavy entry, and a good attendance. We ' quote:—Poultry: ’there was a fair penning, but at present we have an unsatisfied demand for ail classes of birds. Prices on the "’hole show a slight advancement on previous week—Boosters Is lOd to ps, hens Is 9cl to 2s id, duck Is lid to 2s -Id, turkeys 6s to 7s, geese 3s. Produce; Smaller entry than usual, the demand being considerably stronger. Cauliflowers made 3s 3d to 10s doz, ranbarb 7s to 8s per doz bundles, carrots 2s 6d sack, parsnips Is to Is 3d bag, potatoes 8s to 9s 6d sack, onions Id to 11 d per lb, pollard (1501 b sacks) 10s 6d _to 10s 9d, ricemeal (1401 b •sacks) 7s 9d, bacon • (farmers’ cure) o*d to 7d per lb, hams 71jd to 8d lb, new gramophones £2 17s to £3, lady’s bicycle £6 15s, large quantity of furniture, harness, and sundries at usual rates.
