OBITUARY.

SUDDEN DEATH OF Mil BATCHELOR. Melbourne, October 8. Mr Batchelor, Minister for External Affairs, died suddenly while on a walking tour near Warburton, accompanied by a party of prominent public men. The body will be taken to Adelaide for burial.

The House was asked to adjourn till Tuesday as a mark of respect. While assisting to convey the body to Warburton, Mr Justice Higgins slipped and fell, and seriously injured his ankle, a bone being broken. Melbourne, October 7.

Mr Bachelor remarked that ho had not much exercise lately, and was not feeling in good form. He then fell forward dead.

Mr Fisher was greatly affected by the news. He described Mr Batchelor as an ideal Minister. He was the most popular man in the party. The newspapers pay tributes to deceased's Stirling qualities.
