GERMANY WINS INTERNATIONAL BALLOON RACE.

(By Electric Telegraph.—-Copyright.) (United Press Association.) New York, October 8. Germany won the balloon race, travelling live miles further than the best opponent. The winner covered between 500 and 600 miles.

A FAILURE

London, October 7

The international balloon race was' rather a failure as far as distance is concerned. Seven of the nine starters were compelled to land owing to bad weather, and covered distances of less than 500 miles.

The French and German representatives are still in the air.

BEAUMONT INJURED

Paris, October 7. Beaumont, while testing a monoplane at Rhoims, capsized, falling thirty feet. He broke a leg and sustained other injuries. He is likely to recover.
