Auckland, October 3,

A fire destroyed a joinery factory owned by. Frederick Phipps at Ponsonby this * evening. The building was insured for £1350 in the London and Lancashire Office, but. tho owner estimates his loss at considerably above his insurance.

An adjoining residence, owned by Win. Cowley, was damaged to the extent of about £IOO. The cause of the fire is unknown.
