Rear-Admiral Schley, of the United States Navy, prominent in the Span-ish-Ainerican War, dropped dead in a chib in,New York. Admiral Schley sank Cerverass’s fleet in Santiago harbour in July, 1898. He was born in Maryland in 1839, served through the Civil War, and in the Pacific, ChinaJapan, Corea, West Coast of Africa, and South America. In ISS4 ho commanded the expedition to the Arctic which rescued Lieutenant Greely.
