WIRELESS STATION
o AT NEW BRIGHTON. I
(Per Press Association.) , Christchurch, October; 1. Referring to the decision of the Government to establish a wireless station at New Brighton, the Mayor stated that the site chosen was in every way a suitable one. It was desirable that the station should be near the sea, and not in the vicinity of hills or mountains. The site chosen was in the Domain between New Brighton and New Brighton North. Tne Government had taken about four acres for the station, and seme adjacent land had. ai ) been purchased, giving access to the station from the North New Brighton tramline. There would thus bo access from all sides of the station, and it is expected that the place will become very attractive to visitors. The poles will be 150 ft. high, sc the station will be quite a prominent feature of the district. One condition imposed by the Borough Council is that the Government should j provide and maintain for the public .use a sunshine recorder in connection with the station. There will also be a telegraph station and post office. The part of the Domain on which the station is to be erected consists of sandhills, and is not planted.
