WHANGAMOMONA.
COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING. The Whangamomona County Council met on Wednesday. T resent; Crs. Meredith (in toe chair),- iUcv,luggage,- .ilavis, Jones/ Ariderson*,aiciiroy, and Roberton, Messrs, rving ana Raker were gi anted the' reserve applied for at naif tne cost previously paid for two. A letter was received from the Counties’ Association asking the Council to use its endeavours to secure a pledge from Parliamentary candidates tna.t they will urge cue Government to introduce a new Local Government Bill.
Ur. McUluggage moved, and Cr. Anderson seconded, tliat the letter lie on the table, but it Avas finally decided, on the motion of the Chairman and Ur. Mcllroy, that it be acknowledged. file Chairman was empowered to sign the corrected debentures in connection with Mangaivata Hoad. it was decided chat a sum not exceeding £7 (.including £2 10s thirds) re spent in improving the access to Mr. Mqunsey’s lord. in accordance Avith notice, Cr. Hoberton moved the folloAving motion: “I hat in vieAv of the substantial increase in the capital value of the Tahora Hiding through the recent additions from Clifton County the Hiding lie granted an additional representative on the Council.” The morion Avas carried, only the Chairman and Cr. McCluggage voting against it. The Hanger Avas instructed to impound cattle all over the County, hut it. Avas decided to give fifteen * days'" public notice of the Council’s decision.
The folloAving general rates Avcre confirmed:—South Hiding 2d, Central Hiding 2d, Pohokura Hiding lid, i ahora Hiding 11d. Or, McClimgage moved and Cr. Roberton seconded, that the motion fixing the rate for Pohokura Riding at lid lie rescinded, but on a division the rate as fixed was retained, only Crs. McCluggage and Roberton voting for a change. It Avas decided that £57 Gs 2d, rates accrued on Pohokura Road, bo expended on the road in clearing slips, taking olf points, etc. The Engineer Avas instructed to report to next meeting on the general state of Makaliu Road. A motion that 21OG 13s 3d (accrued rates) bo "expended on the road in sanding and repairs was lost. A sum of £2O was voted for repairs on Junction Hoad, the sum to lie dented to the general riding account. i no action of the Engineer in using the services of surfacemen to procure coal samples from Tangarakau Gorge was endorsed. Accounts amounting to £247 18s Id were passed tor payment.
