PROMOTION OF OFFICERS
Math regard to the filling-up of ■ nnmissions in the Territorial Force, a memorandum issued from headquarters states that the system of promotion which is now in force, is meed on the automatic Idling up of .•acancies in the establishment of units. Promotion also takes place: !.l) On the officer to be promoted hav- ■ g passed the necessary qualifying examination for the rank to which he is promoted, and (2,) on the officer ’■ t having exceeded the age limit laid down in regulations for the rank to which he is promoted. The com.l nnieation also adds that vacancies will in no case be kept open for officers who have not passed for the next highest rank. The senior who inis passed will, on a vacancy occurring, be promoted, over the heads of tnose who have not.
