SWEDISH DRILL. One of the subjects required in the training of the Territorials is the drill •mown as Swedish drill. This training is specially directed at the physical development of the recruit, and is the first work he is instructed in upon .iis posting to a company. The drill is an embodiment of different exer,isss calculated to improve one and jvery musclo in the human frame, j'he course, selected from the Imperial 'draining' Course, consists of some .welvo exercises compatible to the requirements of the New Zealand service. The drill commences with the exorcise of the muscles of the neck, head, and face. It then extends to the deep breathing exorcises for the develop-, ment of the lungs, heart, and back. The muscles of the abdomen and small of tho back then receive attention. From there tho hips and points are next dealt with. The thighs, calves of the legs, and knees have exercises suitable ■ to their development, and finally ' tlie feet receive attention. Careful attention to the practices by the 'recruit, with a little home investigation, will work wonders in the physique.
