MOTOR-CARS.

LICENSING DRIVERS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 25. A deputation representing Hawke’s Bay, Canterbury, Auckland, and Wellington Automobile Associations waited on Sir Joseph Ward to urge that ill vehicles should carry lights at •light, that motor-car drivers be licensed, and danger signals lie erected where necessary. Sir Joseph Ward said he did net think there was any chance ol' legislating in the present session. In his opinion there ought to lie lights on all vehicles at night. He was willing to assist in the matter of erection of danger signals, but motorists should do their share. He agreed absolutely to the licensing of drivers and thought mi one under 17 years should lie allowed to drive in the streets.
