THE TERRITORIALS.

• STATEMENT BY THE COMMANDANT. , (Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 19. General Godley, in an address on defence matters to-day, said drill would be held in the evenings and the parades would mean that a man would have to give up half a dozen holidays in the year. The only thing that would present any difficulty would ho the week’s camp. That would be arranged for a convenient time, and that was whore the employers could come in with help. The G.O.C. said there was an extraordinary amount of misunderstanding over this matter, but tho combined training was the sine qua non. Unless comrades, were trained together compulsory training would bo a farce.
