STRATFORD BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL' MEETING. The annual meeting of the above was held in tho borough Council Chambers last evening, tuore being about .twenty members present, Mr. Gi .Songster (president) occupying the choir'. The annual report and balancesheet wore read and adopted. The report • commenced by regretting that tho past year had not been so successful as previous years, tho resignation of: some members, and tho removal of others from tho district being given as. tho reasons of a falling-off in tho receipts. A hope was expressed that '■ the membership would bo largely increased this year. It was suggested that the official opening of the green for rtho coming season take place the first Thursday in November, (this was ■ subsequently left in tho ba'nds of the committee to decide). Reference was niqde to the visit of two rinks to tho Northern bowling Association’s tournament, held at Auckland, at which Stratford bowlers did remarkably . well; as was also the case at the pro- . vincial tournament, held at Inglewood, the. two Stratford rinks corning second, Opauako winning the shield. A list of the inter-club matches played, was given,. Stratford winning seven and losing'seven. The champion singles for the O. M,- Curtis trophy resulted in a tie between Messrs. G. / Sangster and A. C. Currie, and in the play-off the former won by ono point. Reference was made to local matches played, and tho top-dressing of the green, at a cost of £22 ss, which was considered money well spent, as the was now in tip-top order. Messrs. Sangster and FookeS are the present holders of tho Osmond Feat to. ors. The' following office-bearers were elected .•—President, Mr. It. McK. Morisbn; Vice-president, Mr. N. J.
