A SAVAGE ATTACK.
(Per Press Association.) Gisborne, September 15. A prisoner named Alfred Cartel made a. sudden savage attack on th c gaoler, Mr C. Parker, whilst the lat ter was administering medicine to him last evening. Carter had been remanded for treatment after a drinking; bout. The gaoler was severely gashed about the head, and will be laid up for several days.
