STRATFORD’S PROGRESS.

(To tho Editor “Stratford Post.”) Sir,—! have been requested to answer through yoirr columns tho question : “Has Stratford progressed much during tho past five years?” From an educational point of view, undoubtedly yes. At, present time we have 610 pupils - on' the school roll, and; of these there, are .often 230 children present 'in primary classes under Standard T. Then take the Roman Catholic; School, it has gone ahead equally as well. Only recently large additions have been mad,o; Giving to the increase of pupils. -.. There die, as you arcaware, quite a number of boys in State and other departments, and Mr. Tyror has constantly to sav “No” to the numerous applications he receives for boys add girls offices and other positions. : Again, we must take the number of children under sixteen who always'leave school after the annual exams., and when you complete tho lot you will find that there are not far short of a thousand children under seventeen years in and about our town; of course, there could be more and I trust those with a single unit will remember this. One other point, during the visit of the ex-Minister for Education, the Hon. G. Fowlds, ho said, “Very shortly, as far as I car see, Stratford will have to build a separate secondary' school.” Tim building to be erected _ is up to tin-limit-the department will have, and I don’t suppose it will be very long before you will be wanting l another” 1 don’t intend -to discuss the business problem—others have done that with ability—but content myself again with saying that if the school continues on the same lines as at present, then wo must prosper. 1 am,
