Frederick Brooks, a Methodist minister, to marry Colonel John Jacob Aster to Miss Force. The pastor declines to marry divorced persons. The wedding has been postponed. WRECK OF THE TUCAPOL. Santiago, September 7. It is now estimated that thirty were drowned in the wreck of the Tucapol. HEAT IN FRANCE. (Received 8, 8.5 a.m.) Paris, September 7. There were five deaths from sunstroke or heat apoplexy in Paris on Wednesday. TRADES^CONGRESS. (Received 8, 8.5 a.m.) London, September 7. At the Trades Congress, Air Ward commenting on the proposal embodied in the resolution for officering a citizen army, by a selection from the rank aigl file, contended that although the movers declared that a citizen army would not endanger the country’s institutions, any army would. Mr Ward added that it, was a proposition to impose on the country the heaviest burden of militism. Let them work for peace. He supported a fleet in preference to an army, because it was impossible to employ a fleet so well in labour disputes. Air Seddon, a representative of the Shop Assistants’ Union, declared that the workers had a much more powerful weapon than a citizen army—namely, the power to stop production.
