Owing to the non-unionist difficulty the Western Miners’ Anthracite Association at Swansea has av.Uiot is- d notices in connection with five collieries employing eighteen hundred men. Six hundred men are idle from the fame reason at the Great Mountain Colliery. THE LITHGOW STRIKE. BOTH SIDES DETERMINED. (Received 4,p 10.0 a.m.) Sydney, September 4. All the ongi uo-drivci s except one arc now out, at the Lithgow works. Mr Hoskins expects to replace the men to-day. Strike pay was distributed on Saturday. Speeches delivered at meetings, while urging the observation of order, showed a strong determination to fight to a finish. Mr Hoskins is equally determined. STEAMER FREIGHTS RAISED. (Received 4, 10.10 a.m.) London, September 3. As a result of the strike, measurement freights to Australia will be raised half a crown from the 14th, excepting on certain articles in which there is. foreign competition.
