ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, August 30. An accident occurred on the Leith Valley Road, three or four miles from Dunedin, this afternoon, whereby Mrs C. B. M. Branson, licensee of Branson’s Hotel, was killed, and her son severely injured. The two had been for a drive, and while returning the son managed to clamber over the back of the trap, the horse ran over the edge of a bank into a creek. Mrs. Brandon had her nock broken, and was dead when taken to the hospital. The son is unconscious, but is expected to recover. Gisborne, August 31. j John Chisholm, aged 40, died from injuries received by a fall from the loft of the stables where lie was living. An inquest was deemed unnecessary. Auckland, August 31. The dead body of an elderly man was found in a doorway. The only clue to his identity was a letter in his pocket addressed to “Dingley King.” The address was partly obliterated.
