SCENES IN THE HOUSE. THE SNEAKER DEFIED. Sydney, August. 29. When Parliament met, several of the Opposition members remained, seated when tho Speaker entered, but the others rose. Air Wade drew attention to the report in Hansard, but the Speaker immediately ordered him to resume his seat. Mr Perry, ex-Minister of Agriculture, angrily left the' Chamber, calling on all loyal members to follow. As he did not•bow to the Speaker the Sergoant-at-Arms was directed by Air AVillis to bring him back. Air Wood, ex-Chiof Secretary, defied the Speaker, and was removed amid a scene of violent disorder. Shortly afterwards Air Fitzpatrick, when ordered to withdraw a statement and apologise to the Speaker, said, “I will withdraw if I must, and apologise if the statement needs one.” Air AVillis, promptly: ‘Sergeant, re-‘ move the member,’ ’which he did, amidst further uproar. FURTHER UNRULY SCENES. (Received 30, 9.0 a.m.) Sydney, August 30. After Messrs Perry, AVood, and Fitzpatrick had been removed, and Alessrs Levy and Cohen warned, the Assembly calmed down somewhat. Eventually both privilege and dissent motions, moved by Air Cohen, were rejected, tho former by 30 to 32 and the latter 39 to 31. Tho privilege debate was cut short by the application of the closure. Pairs were asked for Alessrs AVood and Fitzpatrick after their removal, but the request was refused. Alessrs Fitzpatrick and Levy declined tho Speaker’s nomination as Deputy Chairman of Committees, Air Levy on the ground that he had grave doubts as to tho Speaker’s position, and Air Fitzpatrick because bo declined to accept any honours from Air AVillis. The debate on tho address in reply was opened and the House adjourned.
