THE DULLER SEAT.
(Tor Press Association.) Westport, August 30. The rumour that Mr Colvin, M.P., is to be called to the Upper House, and that Sir John Findlay will contest the Bnller seat is emphatically contradicted by Mr Colvin. NOTES BY THE WAY. A Taliora correspondent writes as follows —On the 28 ch i nst. a, meeting was hold in tho Kohuratahi Hall, called by the supporters of Mr. J.-B. Hino, M.P., for the purpose of forming a committee on •‘fighting lines,” in view of the forthcoming election. The meeting was well attended, and 'showed an enthusiastic spirit throughout. Mr. Coxhcad was voted to tho chair, and Mr. C. Bacon appointed acting secretary. The business of tho meeting was a discourse on tho measures to adopt in assisting Mr. Mine. Several of those present testified as to Mr. Mine’s ability as a politician, and as a man of character and principle. The following resolution was carried :—“That a working committee ho formed, and a fighting fund 1)3 started with which to maintain outlay in committee work.” A motion was also passed to the effect that it would not be necessary for Mr. Hino to speak at either Kohuratahi or Taliora, as tiie majority agreed tiiat Mr. Hino was the man in tho right place, and as an evidence of confidence in him his supporters were strong enough to prove their support at the ballot box.
