CLOSING A COAL MINE.
‘ (Per Press Association.) Grey mouth, August 26. The North Brunner Coal Mine is about to close down, hence many will lie thrown out of employment. The Mayor of Brunner tiffs morning wired to Sir A. R. Guinness to intercede ■with the Government to open the Wnllsuud Mine, or render assistance to enable tlio residents to open it for work. The news of closing the mine was unexpected so soon, though rumours have gained circulation lately.
