BURNING A NEGRO. New York, August 25. , Carler, a, negro, was identified as having attacked a ivoman at Purcell, Oklahama, and then set fire to her home. He Avas burnt to death by a mob in a town street. Three hundred witnessed the burning. The sheriffs attempted to protect Carter, but the mob locked them in the courthouse. They tied the negro to a stake and poured oil on his body before lighting the fire.
