ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES.

STRATFORD’S PROTEST,

A mooting was hold in the Borough Council Chamber last night to consider the recent readjustments of electoral boundaries, the Mayor (Mr, J. Masters) presiding. Too Mayor said that at the request of a number of electors lie had called the meeting, and there seemed to be a great deal of reason for dissatisfaction. He moved the following resolution ; —“That this meeting respectfully protest against the alterations of 'boundaries recently announced by the Representation . Commissioners, and would respectfully ask that the boundaries bo amended so that the whole of the Stratford County be included in this electorate, bn the ground that those parts of the county at present excluded, which include Cardiff, Rowan, and Mahoe, have more community of interest with Stratford than with Egmont, and that the districts of Omona, Mangamingi, and Mergmcro ho excluded from the electorate, on the ground that they havo no community of interest with the remainder of the electorate; and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the member for the district, with a request that he present same to the Representation Commissioners.” Their interests were most in the Stratford. electorate.” Mr. C. D. Sole seconded. Mr. N. J. King said it would be bettor for the whole of the electors if the whole of the Stratford County were included in the electorate. Mr. S. H. Janies said that the commissioners had to take into consideration the community of interest Mr. Healy said Omona should be included, but Mcromcre should be cut out. Mr. Joseph McCluggage said he thought the Mayor of Stratford and the Chairman of the County Council should he sent to Wellington with a free hand. Mr. King favoured the inclusion of Omona in the Stratford district. It was decided to strike Omona out of the resolution. The motion as amended was carried. Mr. Sole then moved that the Mayor of Stratford and the Chairman of the County Council bo asked to presort the resolution to the Commissioners if necessary. This was carried.
