He retired as usual, anJ was rot again seen until a personal attendant entered his room at 9 o'clock in the morning and found his Only lying across the bed. / The Cardinal had evidently got out of bed during the night and thrown a cloak over his shoulders. It is surmised he had a sudden seizure and fell ban; and died.
On Sunday, the Cardinal had opened a new presbytery at C mis wood and delivered a vigorous speech, although no hud been ailing. There have been many tributes in | the press by public men to Cardinal Moran as a great churchman, administrator and statesman. Numerous messages of sympathy have been received. The Government, to mark its respect, issues a special black-bordered ’“Gazette.” By the death of Cardinal Moran, Archbishop Kelly, who was appointed his coadjutor, succeeds him as Archbishop. This does not mean of itself that he will become Cardinal, that resting entirely with the Pope.
