SPORTING.

METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Taranaki Metropolitan Committee was held on Tuesday. Licenses were granted to the following:—Trainers—W. F. Mantle, H. Eva, A. I). Adams, P. W. A. M’Koy, B. Nicholls, J/ P. Johnson, Thos. Quinlivan, G. H. Gibson, Jas. Brown, 11. Brough, J. Clareburt, D. Knight, ii. J. Milne, Chas. Jackson, Rang! M aka we. Jockeys—W. H. Copestake, W. T. Ayre, A. D. Adams, R. Horne, L. Kemp, R. J. Kelly, F. Homes.

It was decided to inform the Wanganui J.C. that the committee had no objection to Edward Copestake’s application for a jockey’s license. The secretary reported that he had issued a jockey’s license to Thos. Pine, as the Hawke’s Bay J.C. had no objection. It was resolved to levy on the country clubs as follows, to reimburse country representatives their . expenses at the late conference: —Egnont R. 0., £7 7s; Stratford R.C., £1 18s; Opunake R.C., £2 9s.
