The Conservative platform for the coming election has been issued, and contains as its main planks reform in public expenditure, removal of present extravagances, granting the right over natural resources to praire provinces, construction of the Hudson Bay railway, the encouragement of the chilled meat industry, establishment of a permanent Tariff Commission, liberal grants for improvement in agriculture, to maintain the independency of the Canadian Parliament in its own affairs, but to seek to find the highest'ideal in the autonomous development of Canada as a nation within the Empire. New York, August 16. At Sisson, California, butterflies in countless millions invaded a baseball field, slopped the game, and drove the spectators into shelter. Automobile; traffic was stopped, as the,drivers were unable to see where they were going. The Foreign Affairs Committee, in its report to the Senate on the AngloAmerican treaty, characterised it as the breeder of war, and not as the maker of peace.
