AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. The entertainment on behalf of the Bayly Memorial Scholarship funds in His Majesty’s last audit was not so well attended as the object demanded, but there was nevertheless a very fair house. Wednesday’s proprogramme, with “'ldle Siege of Troy” added, was given, and it is only necessary to say that this latter him is one that requires to lie seen to lie thoroughly realised. It is hardly conceivable that such situations as arc depicted could be reproduced so faithfully on canvas, and there is little wonder that the film has been rapturously received wherever shown. The various scenes imtiiis magnificent film wore fully described in Tuesday’s issue, and there is no need to add anything further than to say that the audience, was more than satisfied. The programme will bo repeated tonight and to-morrow afternoon and evening, and there should bo good houses at each performance. During the evening Mr. Cargill, on behalf of the Bayly Memorial Scholarship Committee, briefly returned thanks to Madame Bernard, for her kindness in giving the benefit, and lie hoped such an example would he followed in other centres in Taranaki. CORONATION SKATING RINK. A huge number of skaters were presold. at this rink last evening, and a most enjoyable time was spent, the attractions including potato races for both ladies and gentlemen, ogg-aml-spoon race for ladies, and a polo match, ladies v. gentlemen, which was won by the latter by I goals to 2. The prizes consisted of a bronzed photo frame and fancy cream jug for the ladies, and a cigarette case for the gentlnmen. The rink is open every afternoon and evening this week, but will fe closed next Monday and Tuesday. the hall being engaged for dancing.
